Firefighters are continuing to make progress on two wildfires burning in Central Oregon.
The Willow Fire, 8 miles northwest of Madras, has burned 150 acres and is 30 percent contained, according to a news release from the Central Oregon Fire Info group. Full containment of the fire, which ignited Friday afternoon, was expected by Sunday night. Firefighters have kept it from spreading and crossing Willow Creek.
The fire was caused by humans and is under investigation, the news release said.
The Lower Valley Fire, 8 miles west of Terrebonne off Lower Bridge Road, was remapped at 50 acres (from 75 acres Friday) and crews were strengthening lines around it Saturday. An estimate of containment was not available.
Its cause is under investigation, according to the news release, although emergency dispatchers said Friday it was caused when a hay truck overturned about noon and caught fire.
