January 18, 1944 – July 25, 2017

Roger Edward Oukrop, 73, of West Richland, passed away on July 25, 2017 at Caring Hands in Kennewick. He was born January 18, 1944, in St. Helens, OR. Roger grew up in Columbia City, OR, and graduated from St. Helens High School in 1962. After High School he attended Oregon State University and then served in the Navy for 4yrs during the Vietnam War. Roger married his high school sweetheart in 1965 and had celebrated their 52 year anniversary this year. Roger moved to Corvallis, OR, and was a huge supporter of the Oregon State Beavers. He worked for DeWald NW Co. for 38 years working his way up to president of the company. Roger believed you should work hard, so you can play hard! His activities and hobbies included: running, mountain biking, elk hunting, and crabbing, camping, water skiing, wake boarding, wood working, and showing his 1948 Chevy convertible. Roger also had a strong love for music and his dogs, but most of all he enjoyed sharing all with his family and friends.He is survived by his wife, Nancy Oukrop; daughters, Randi and Chris Rusher of W. Richland, WA, Juli and Hallie Slayter of Albany, OR, and Angi McMurtrey and Dave Hawks of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Shelbi and Logan Slayter, Ashli, Mantha and Jessi McMurtrey and Cameron Rusher. Roger is also survived by his siblings; Edna Mae Paul of Lakewood, CO, Sharon Sligar of Grants Pass, OR, Daniel Oukrop of Beaver Creek, OR, and Donald Oukrop of Spokane, WA.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mae Oukrop.Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.Flowers to Einan’s or donations may be made to the Michael J.
