Karen Ann “Kay” (Kelly) Batchelor

Kay was born in Oklahoma City on May 22, 1940, the daughter of James J. Kelly and Lue Elsie (Daly) Kelly. She died peacefully in her sleep at home in Edmond, Oklahoma on August 7, 2017.

Kay is survived by her husband, Malcolm S. Batchelor, their three children; Stuart Batchelor, Elaine Tatro, and Laura Batchelor Roberson; and a number of much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She graduated from McGuiness High School and attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. The family has lived in Houston, Texas, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Coral Gables, Florida, and New Canaan, Conneticut, and Bend, Oregon, after retirement. Kay moved to Edmond, Oklahoma recently to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Kay was proudest of her children and 17 years of volunteer service as a paramedic in New Canaan and Houston. She loved her children and grandchildren, extensive travel, and exploring new cuisines in her cooking.

Kay will be buried in El Reno, Oklahoma, with her parents and family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
