• Family Resource Center was awarded $11,500 from the Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon. It will use the funds to support evidence-based programming throughout Central Oregon.

• Mid Oregon Credit Union is collecting needed school supplies for students in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties through the end of August. Community members may drop off donated school supplies at any Mid Oregon Credit Union location. The most needed items are high school and elementary school backpacks, earbuds, basic and scientific calculators, composition books, 2-inch and 3-inch binders and five-tab dividers.

• Mission Facilitators has opened a Bend location and will teach professional development classes at OSU-Cascades.

• High Desert Apprenticeship Inc. is accepting applications for an electrical apprenticeship program. Applicants must apply in person at Work Source, Bend between Aug. 21 and Sept. 1.

• The Bend Venture Conference application deadline for companies looking to present at the October conference is Aug. 11.

• Family Access Network Foundation received a $7,500 donation from The Bill Healy Foundation to help connect families to basic-need services at Terrebonne Community School.

• Bend Garbage & Recycling and Cascade Disposal are asking Bend-area customers to put out carts and containers the night before their service day Aug. 16-22 due to increased traffic from the solar eclipse.

• High Country Disposal is asking Redmond-area customers to put out carts and containers the night before their service day Aug. 17-22 due to increased traffic from the solar eclipse.

• The Public Works Department of Prineville has been recognized as a “Utility of the Future” and earned the Outstanding Agency award at the Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies awards for its integrated approach in managing wastewater and the creation and restoration of wetlands, floodplains, riparian areas and public recreation.

• Columbia Sportswear in Bend has been added to the Columbia ReThreads program, through which people can donate old garments, outerwear and footwear of any brand. For every pound of clothing given between Aug. 9 and Sept. 10, Columbia will donate $1 to either the American Hiking Society, the National Park Foundation or the Children and Nature Network.

U.S. Highway 97, No. 360, filed an application Aug. 2 with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission as a new outlet for a commercial establishment full on-premises sales license, which allows the sale and service of distilled spirits, malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises.

• Eqwine Mobile Wine Cart LLC, 345 NW 19th St., Redmond, filed an application Aug. 2 with the OLCC as a new outlet for a limited on-premises sales license, which allows the sale of malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises and the sale of kegs of malt beverages for off premises consumption.

• Too Sweet Cakes Cookies Cakes & Pastries, 1012 SE Cleveland Square Loop, No. 1A, filed an application Aug. 3 with the OLCC as a new outlet for a limited on-premises sales license, which allows the sale of malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises and the sale of kegs of malt beverages for off premises consumption.
