Congratulations: It’s Wednesday, and you’ve (hopefully) survived the eclipse and, more to the point, the massive influx of eclipse-gawkers. To celebrate, head over to McMenamins Old St. Francis School and party with Oregon’s favorite one-man band/loop ninja Tony Smiley. Based in the Portland area, Smiley is a frequent visitor in Bend — he most recently performed at Volcanic Theatre Pub in June — and his danceable mix of breezy pop, laid-back hip-hop, snarling rock and groovy funk is a no-brainer here. But the experience of Smiley’s show is really all about seeing one man build these songs from the ground up, using drums, percussion, keyboards, acoustic guitar, bass, banjo and whatever else he might have with him. If you haven’t seen Smiley before, see him now and get ready for more than a few “How’d he do that?” moments.
Tony Smiley: 7 p.m. Wednesday; free; McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St., Bend; mcmenamins.com or 541-382-5174.
