North Carolina’s Papadosio is often lumped into the jamtronica movement of the late ’90s and early 2000s, and not without good reason: Its albums and shows feature the usual mix of organic and electronic instruments (not to mention one out-there light show). But the band’s multi-layered instrumentals, shifting rhythms and complex harmonies suggest more in common with prog-rockers such as Yes and Genesis, or even more modern groups such as Tool, rather than Disco Biscuits or STS9. The group’s most recent album, the improv-heavy instrumental “Pattern Integrities,” continues the experimental streak it has become known for. The band has teamed up with electronic musician/producer Phutureprimitive for a tour that hits the Domino Room on Wednesday.

PS: This is the second show Volcanic Theatre Pub owner Derek Sitter will bring to the Domino Room, following Agent Orange last month, but definitely not the last: Psychobilly group Reverend Horton Heat plays the venue Jan. 17 alongside Voodoo Glow Skulls and Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, it was announced earlier this week. Tickets cost $25 plus fees in advance and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at bendticket.com.

Papadosio and Phutureprimitive, with Mihkal, N8ture: 9 p.m. Wednesday; $20 plus fees in advance, $25 at the door; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; volcanictheatrepub.com, 541-323-1881 or 541-408-4329.
