Manuela Gomez de Benitez, 86, of Redmond, Oregon, passed away on Oct. 27, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born on June 21, 1931, in Culiacan Sinaloa, Mexico.

She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her home town she was known as Dona Nela. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals and gardening.

She was married to Gabino Benitez for 64 years. In 1990, Manuela and Gabino moved to Redmond to be with their family.

Manuela is survived by her daughters, Carmen Pickens, Raquel Benitez, Maria Deniz, Doris Horton, Judy Pickens; and son, Octavio Benitez; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great- grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, three sisters, an infant, and son-in-law.

A later private funeral service will be held in Redmond church.
