LAS VEGAS — A night after finishing first and second at the National Finals Rodeo, Russell Cardoza and Charly Crawford were shut out.

The two Central Oregon cowboys and their respective team-roping partners finished out of the money — neither duo even posted a time — in Saturday night’s third round of the 2017 NFR at Thomas & Mack Center.

Header Luke Brown, of Morgan Mill, Texas, and heeler Jake Long, of Coffeyville, Kansas, won Saturday’s round with a time of 3.90 seconds, earning $26,230.77 apiece.

Crawford, a header and a former longtime Prineville resident who now lives in Stephenville, Texas, finished out of the money (top six in the field of 15 teams) for the first time in this NFR and now ranks eighth in the average standings with partner Joseph Harrison, a heeler from Overbrook, Oklahoma.

Cardoza, a heeler from Terrebonne, has now finished out of the money twice and has slipped to 11th in the average standings with partner Dustin Bird, a header from Cut Bank, Montana. The top eight placers in the average at the conclusion of the 10-round NFR win cash, ranging from $67,269 for first place to $6,346 for eighth place.
