In its two-piece format, Bend’s Corner Gospel Explosion has pushed the edges of its danceable, indie-rock sound, as evidenced by this month’s single release, “Before They Drag Me to Hell,” the first taste of the band’s upcoming second album, “It’s Hard to Be a Kid.” Now the Parsons brothers will kick off 2018 by subverting the standard rock ’n’ roll show with the first installment of their variety show at Spoken Moto. Set to continue every third Friday of the month at the venue, each installment will feature CoGo interviewing a different featured band or musician about the songwriting process, along with live performances from the artists. This month’s guest will be San Francisco indie/electronica transplants Seed Ling, which released a six-song EP, “Rises and Falls,” last year. CoGo drummer/vocalist Brad Parsons said the band plans to stream live video of the shows on its Facebook page, so you can also tune in there if you can’t make it in person.
CoGo & Friends Variety Show with Seed Ling: 7 p.m. Friday; free; Spoken Moto, 310 SW Industrial Way, Bend; spokenmoto.com or 541-306-6689.
