2018 Luminaria canceled due to lack of snow

The Luminaria, an annual candlelit nordic ski tour to the Virginia Meissner Sno-park shelter that was scheduled for Saturday evening, has been canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions. Although the sno-park received new snow last week, organizers with Meissner Nordic Ski Club said Wednesday that snow conditions had deteriorated and it would no longer be possible to hold the event.

According to Meissner Nordic vice president Steve Roti, the event requires a large number of volunteers to set up the luminarias along the 1.5-mile path to the shelter, so it is not feasible to reschedule the event for later in the winter.

Another Meissner Nordic event, Learn to Ski Day, was canceled in early January, also due to lack of snow.
