‘Catechism’ raises money — Two performances of “Late Nite Catechism” last week at the Tower Theatre raised $2,350 in donations to Cardinal Otunga House, an adult foster care facility on Stonebrook Loop in Bend run by the Sisters of Saint Mary of Kakamega. It’s a longstanding tradition of the show, created in 1993, to conduct a post-performance collection to benefit a local order of Sisters.
Actress Kim Richards, who stars as Sister in the partly improvised show, was quoted in a press release: “I also ‘fine’ members of my audience for tardiness, cheating, gum chewing, talking out of turn, inappropriate attire, and general unruly behavior. As you can see there was no shortage of misbehaving by Protestants and Catholics alike at the Tower!” Sister Sabina Mbenge, the U.S. regional superior for the Sisters of St. Mary, attended the performances and accepted the donation.
