San Francisco throwback soul/funk ensemble Monophonics returns to play Volcanic Theatre Pub on Wednesday, almost a year to the day since its last performance in town (with Orgone, which made its own triumphant return to Bend recently). The horn-fueled funk juggernaut’s current tour, which includes the Bend date and two shows at The Crocodile in Seattle with jam band ALO, coincides with the follow-up to the band’s fourth studio album, 2015’s retro-minded “Sound of Sinning.” For the six-song “Mirrors” EP, due out Feb. 15, the band tried its hand at some classic covers, including “California Dreaming,” in its signature, hip-shaking style. Local electro-soul/rock group Elektrapod will get the dancing started early.
Monophonics, with Elektrapod: 8:30 p.m. Wednesday; $15 plus fees in advance, $20 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend, volcanictheatrepub.com or 541-323-1881.
