The Athletic Club of Bend will get a little dead and a lot irie in August.
Clear Summer Nights this week announced two shows for its upcoming season: Grateful Dead tribute band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will play Aug. 12, and California reggae quartet Rebelution will bring its Free Rein tour — featuring Stephen Marley, Common Kings, Zion I and DJ Mackle — to the Athletic Club on Aug. 15.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead features drummer Joe Russo and pianist Marco Benevento of jazz/rock/fusion group Benevento/Russo Duo, as well as Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz, guitarist Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton of American Babies. Bandleader Russo, who also played with the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in Furthur, formed the group in 2013.
Tickets cost $39.50 or $87.50 for dinner tickets, plus fees, and go on sale at noon Friday at newportavemarket.com or in person at Newport Avenue Market.
Rebelution formed in Isla Vista, California, in 2004 and has released six albums, most recently 2016’s “Falling Into Place.” The Free Rein tour unites the band with fellow Californian reggae upstarts Common Kings, hip-hop duo Zion I and Stephen Marley, son of Bob, who hopefully needs no further introduction.
Tickets cost $47.50 or $97.50 for dinner tickets, plus fees, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at newportavemarket.com or in person at Newport Avenue Market.
