Where to GO! for a belly-warming food truck soup

Published 12:00 am Thursday, February 8, 2018

The belly-warming food truck soup category is a tough one to win in Bend with places like the Bend Soup Company, Scoutpost, The Lot and Brown Owl vying for the top spot. At the end of the day, readers agreed on Thailandia at The Lot.

Thailandia is a food truck with authentic Thai cuisine prepared by owner Maliwan Hansen. Hansen worked in Bangkok preparing and selling Thai street food before moving to the states. Her menu at Thailandia includes traditional Thai soups such as Tom Kha and Tom Yum. Tom Kha is a flavorful, semi-sweet and sour coconut milk soup. Tom Yum is a spicy and sour, shrimp paste soup. Both soups are made with lemon grass, galangal, lime leaves, lime juice, carrots, broccoli, onion, zucchini, tomato and mushrooms. They are filling, healthy and satisfying on a winter day.
