Central Oregon residents voted the popular Deschutes River Trail as the best place to go for a trail run. The Deschutes River Trail System has five different segments of trails of varying lengths.
The scenery changes depending on the segment of the trail with parts winding along the river, past golf courses or through wooded forest.
A few of the most popular trail reaches are the River Run Reach and the Old Mill Reach. The River Run Reach begins at First Street Rapids and follows the Deschutes River before cutting through River’s Edge Golf Course. The Old Mill Reach goes past the outdoor mall, Les Schwab Amphitheater and Riverbend Park and has three footbridges connecting the trail on both sides of the river. Another popular run along the Deschutes River Trail stretches from Entrada Lodge to Dillon Falls. Runners can go do the 5.3 mile Entrada River Loop or go the full distance, about 16 miles.
