Where to GO! for a vegetarian dish

What began in a 1962 Airstream is now a favorite brick-and-mortar lunch and dinner spot among locals in search of a tasty vegetarian dish. Spork, the popular food truck turned restaurant, was voted the No. 1 place to go.

Owner and chef Jeff Hunt have created an eclectic menu with African, Asian and Latin influences. Erica Reilly, a managing partner at Spork, believes the chef’s’ “passion for foods of other cultures” and “balance of flavors” were contributing factors for the win.

“Our food is exciting and affordable,” said Reilly. “Many of our dishes can be made vegetarian, so I think that we have a lot of options.” A couple of examples are the West African peanut curry: a peanut tomato curry with chickpeas and the tacos with fried organic tofu, chili mayo, salsa, cabbage, radish, jalapeño, green onion and cilantro. In addition to main dishes, several vegetarian small plates are also available such as the kimchi, cucumber salad, peanuts with palm sugar and red chili, grilled vegetables and small Thai green salad.
