Uh-oh, your internet’s been shut off. Or maybe you’ve just moved and haven’t had a chance to call the cable company. Whatever your reason for lack of connectivity, head over to the Deschutes Public Library, our readers’ choice for Where to GO! for free Wi-Fi.
With two locations in Bend and branches in Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver and La Pine, the library is easily accessible.
Approximately 9,800 unique visitors per month and an average of 900 per week use the library’s Wi-Fi, according to Library Director Todd Dunkelberg, and a recent upgrade to the wireless system last year increased speed and accessibility across all locations. In addition to everything else the internet has to offer (no rundown needed, hopefully), through the library’s website, deschuteslibrary.org, Wi-Fi users can access multiple databases (tutorial video site Lynda.com was recently added to the list) and download books, movies, music and more.
