Deschutes Brewery swept three of the four beer categories in GO! Magazine’s reader survey, winning for its porter, ale and stout.
“Our Black Butte Porter is the beer that started it all nearly 30 years ago, followed soon by Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Obsidian Stout,” said Brian Faivre, brewmaster at Deschutes Brewery. “These have been fan favorites and international award-winning beers for decades, and we are thrilled to see our home community continue to love these flagship brews as much as we do.”
The brewery, founded in Bend in 1988, is the eighth largest craft brewery in the U.S., shipping beer to nearly 30 states.
Still, representatives of the brewery were humbled to hear Central Oregon residents favored their beers over all others in the region.
Founder Gary Fish launched the Deschutes Brewery with a small brewpub and public house in Bend. His business philosophy was based on the community feeling a certain ownership in his business and, therefore, its success. The votes cast for the brewery in Where to GO! in Central Oregon show that Fish succeeded.
