El Sancho Taco Shack, located beside the Crux Fermentation Project, wrapped it up for tastiest food truck taco.

From being one of the first local food trucks to a cozy restaurant on Dekalb Avenue, this Mexican street food eatery is a Central Oregon favorite.

Why? Co-owner Jon Barvels says the reason is simple. “We put a lot of time and care and love into our food.”

Tacos are served on fried corn tortillas filled with cotija cheese, red and green salsa, cilantro and onion with your choice of meat. A couple examples highlighted by GO! Magazine’s food reviewer: the beef barbacoa — shredded brisket with a delicious barbecue sauce; and mushroom — wild fungi blended with onion, cabbage, tomatillos and chili paste.

Barvels owns the restaurant with Joel Cordes.

Parrilla Grill took second place in this category even though the restaurant’s food truck only makes appearances at events and catering gigs.
