Jan Beets van den Berg

Jan Beets van den Berg –adventurer, father and husband – died at the age 87, of Alzheimer’s in Bend, OR, with family at his side. Born in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1930, Jan and his family were evacuated by British forces during World Word II and eventually moved to New Rochelle, CT, where he grew up.

Jan attended Wesleyan University. He went on to graduate from Stanford Graduate School of Business where he received a master’s in business administration. He also served as a lieutenant in the Navy. Jan joined McKinsey and Company as a business consultant in 1959. He managed offices in New York, London and Amsterdam, retiring as a senior director in 1988, and moving to Central Oregon.

Jan spent much of his retirement traveling the world. His greatest passion was experiencing new places and cultures, and sharing those experiences with others. He traveled to all seven continents and more than 70 countries.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Pieter; three daughters, Julia, Connie and Gloria; brother, Willem; sister, Johanna; three stepdaughters, Angie, Christy and Tracy; and nine grandchildren. Jan will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
