The Central Oregon Baseball/Softball Officials Association has scheduled its first meetings of the 2018 season, starting with an orientation meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the library at Mountain View High School in Bend. The orientation meeting is for new members and for first-, second- and third-year returning umpires.

A second meeting, for all umpires, new and returning, is set for 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the cafeteria at Mountain View High. The second meeting will feature interpretation of Oregon School Activities Association and national federation rules, and all Central Oregon high school softball and baseball coaches are encouraged to attend.

COBOA/COSOA officials say they are actively recruiting new umpires. No experience is required to become an association umpire; training will be provided.
