SISTERS — Last season, Sisters shared the Sky-Em League boys basketball title. This year, the Outlaws have the opportunity to be outright champs.

With Noah Richards erupting for 31 points, Sisters busted open a one-point first-quarter lead by outscoring Elmira 42-9 over the next 16 minutes en route to a 64-29 victory on Tuesday night.

“We had a little bit of a slow start,” said Outlaws coach David Godfrey, “but we put it together and did really well.”

Richards scored 28 points during Sisters’ dominant second and third quarters, helping the Outlaws (8-1 Sky-Em, 15-8 overall) to their fourth straight win.

“He just got after it,” Godfrey said of the junior wing. “We got out in transition well and got a lot of layups created by our defense.”

Zach Anderson had 10 points for Sisters, while Ryan Waddell and Ty Horner each scored eight. With the win, the Outlaws head into their regular-season finale Friday against visiting Sutherlin, which is tied with Sisters for first place in the Sky-Em after defeating Junction City 56-32 on Tuesday. Sisters’ lone league loss was a 51-25 setback at Sutherlin on Jan. 26.

“It’s real big,” Godfrey said of the championship-deciding game. “It’s a neat thing for the school, too. We were co-champs last year. And we’re wanting to just be THE champs this year.”

Summit 51, Ridgeview 39: REDMOND — Beau Blea poured in 18 points to lead the Class 5A No. 9-ranked Storm to an Intermountain Conference win. Karson Klecker had 10 points for Summit (8-2 IMC, 12-5 overall), which maintains a slim lead over Mountain View (7-2 IMC) for first place in the league standings. The Storm’s Joe Hicks added eight points. For Ridgeview (1-9, 4-17), Payton Davis had 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Nick Nelson had 11 points, five steals and four boards.

Mountain View 69, Redmond 35: REDMOND — Chase McClain scored 17 points and Austin Fields and Matt Van Tassell had 12 apiece as the Cougars completed a three-game season sweep of the Intermountain Conference-rival Panthers. Mountain View led 19-14 after one period, then broke it open by outscoring Redmond 20-4 in the second quarter. The Cougars, ranked No. 6 in Class 5A, ended a two-game skid and remain in second place in the IMC at 7-2 (15-5 overall). Redmond (2-8, 8-14) was led by Dylan Taylor with eight points and Josh Hair with six.

Crook County 51, Molalla 45: MOLALLA — The Cowboys pulled into a tie with Madras for second place in the Tri-Valley Conference with their third straight win. Thaiden Millan hit two 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead Crook County. Also for the Cowboys (6-2 TVC, 9-12 overall), Jordan Graydon, Chase Bales and Dominic Langley scored six points apiece.

Gladstone 69, Madras 56: MADRAS — The White Buffaloes dropped a Tri-Valley Conference contest after being outscored 22-9 in the third quarter. Donnie Bagley paced Madras (6-2 TVC, 10-11 overall) with 12 points. Kanim Smith III added 11 points and five rebounds, and Tyler Lockey scored nine points.

Trinity Lutheran 58, Paisley 33: Saints sophomore Matthew Eidler eclipsed 1,000 points for his high school career, finishing with 20 points to go with eight rebounds as Trinity Lutheran got past Paisley for a win in the Mountain Valley League playoffs. Abe Clift added 20 points and nine boards for the Saints (18-7), and Niko Utu had nine points and six rebounds.

Girls basketball

Ridgeview 61, Summit 48: The Ravens outscored Summit 15-9 in the second quarter to overcome an early five-point deficit as they cruised to an Intermountain Conference road win. Though still in second place in the league standings behind Bend (8-1 IMC), Ridgeview (8-2 IMC, 12-10 overall) remained in title contention with its fourth win in five games. Rylee Troutman led the Ravens with 22 points, and Aspen Jeter scored 10. Spencer Hurley paced Summit (4-6, 8-12) with 15 points, while Olivia Treu had nine points and three rebounds.

Madras 48, Gladstone 25: GLADSTONE — Madras clinched the Tri-Valley Conference title by beating the second-place Gladiators for its 12th straight win. Kaliyah Iverson scored 14 points to go with six steals, and she made all six of her free throws for the Class 4A No. 8-ranked White Buffaloes. Also for Madras (8-0 TVC, 19-2 overall), Lynden Harry had 13 points, nine rebounds, three steals and three assists, and Jiana Smith-Francis had nine points and five steals.

Elmira 53, Sisters 36: SISTERS — Elmira took charge by outscoring Sisters 21-10 in the second quarter and pinned a Sky-Em League loss on the Outlaws. Sisters was within five points at the end of the first period but trailed 35-19 by halftime. Rylee Weber scored 11 points for Sisters (2-7 Sky-Em, 5-17 overall), and Kaylee Huber, Alexa Stewart and Gracen Sundstrom added five apiece.

Molalla 71, Crook County 28: PRINEVILLE — The Cowgirls (1-7 TVC, 5-17 overall) fell in Tri-Valley Conference play.

Weston-McEwen 49, Culver 47: BOARDMAN — After Culver missed two free throws with seven seconds to play, Weston-McEwen quickly got down the court but missed a short shot. The TigerScots, though, got the offensive rebound and hit a follow-up at the buzzer to earn the automatic bid to the Columbia Basin Conference championship game. Mia Gamboa had 15 points for the Bulldogs (15-9), who will play Heppner in the CBC semifinals Friday. Also for Culver, Elly Bautista, Mikayla Haessler and Lesli Alvarado each had eight points. The Bulldogs’ Irma Retano finished with six points but sat out most of the second and third quarters with foul trouble.

Hosanna Christian 62, North Lake 42: KLAMATH FALLS — The Cowgirls’ season came to an end with a Mountain Valley League play-in loss to the host Lions. Rachel Baker scored 18 points to lead North Lake (15-8), which also got nine points from Briana Church and seven from Carlie Nelson.
