California blues/rock/soul guitar slinger Tommy Castro will bring his four piece band, The Painkillers, back to The Belfry on Wednesday to celebrate the release of their third album together, “Stompin’ Ground.” After releasing the stripped-down, hard-driving “The Devil You Know” (2014) and “Method to My Madness” (2015), Castro dug deep into his formative musical years for “Stompin’ Ground.” Castro found inspiration growing up in San Jose in the ’60s and ’70s, where he began “mixing the blues-rock he loved and the soul music he heard blasting out from the low riders cruising the streets,” per his website. That mashup of styles is reflected in the album’s introspective-yet-rocking originals and covers of songs by Elvin Bishop, Buddy Miles and more.
Tommy Castro and the Painkillers: 7 p.m. Wednesday; $20 plus fees; The Belfry, 302 E. Main Ave., Sisters; belfryevents.com.
