Tower takes listeners around the world

Take a trip around the world in song at the Tower Theatre this week with these three genre-bending shows:

• Juno Award-winning Canadian guitarist Jesse Cook returns to the Tower on Thursday to support his latest album “Beyond Borders,” released in September. As usual, Cook’s many eclectic influences are on display on the record: Middle Eastern melodies, jazz-informed structures and, of course, lots of tasty playing.

Jesse Cook: 8 p.m. Thursday; $37, $47 or $57 plus theater preservation fee

• Two guitar trios bring more acoustic heroics to the historic theater Friday night. The Montreal Guitar Trio puts its own spin on everything from traditional Spanish guitar music to modern fare such as Rush, Radiohead and The Beatles. Oregon’s answer to MG3 (and other classical-hybrid groups such as the California Guitar Trio), Oregon Guitar Trio, opens the show.

Montreal Guitar Trio, with Oregon Guitar Trio: 7:30 p.m. Friday; $25, $32 or $38 plus theater preservation fee

• Moving from strings to horns, M5 Mexican Brass brings its high-energy show to the Tower for the first time Wednesday. Since 2005, the quintet has specialized in chamber music from around the world as well as original material with a Latin American twist.

M5 Mexican Brass: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; $18, $22 or $30 plus theater preservation fee; Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St., Bend; towertheatre.org or 541-317-0700
