Adaptive Sports

Hoodoo to host Junior Racers day — Oregon Adaptive Sports will host the OAS Junior Racers skiing day for kids 18 or younger with physical disabilities and visual impairments at Hoodoo on March 3. The event will include adaptive skiing, followed by a pizza party and costume contest. The registration deadline is Feb. 27. Those who have not participated in an OAS event this winter should sign up at http://oregonadaptivesports.org/juniorracers/. Anyone who has already filled out a registration form this winter can sign up by emailing info@oregonadaptivesports.org.

Lacrosse

BPRD lax registration open — The deadline to register for the Bend Park & Recreation District youth lacrosse league is March 5. The league is for boys and girls in the first through eighth grades and will run from April 2 to June 1. Teams will practice twice a week and play eight games. Registration costs $80 for BPRD residents and $96 for nondistrict residents. Helmets, stick, mouth guards and jerseys are provided, but boys must provide their own gloves, shoulder and elbow pads. Financial assistance is available for entry fee and equipment needs. To sign up, visit www.bendparksandrec.org or a district facility. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Motor Sports

ACCO to host Track Day on April 7 — The Autocross Club of Central Oregon will host a track day at Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 7. The event will be a driver instruction day — not a race — and will be broken up into four run groups: rookies with instructors, novices, intermediates and advanced drivers. Drivers will have up to 2 hours of seat time. Registration is limited to five rookies and 20 novice, intermediate and advanced drivers each. Preregistration is required and costs $175. Nordic Skiing

18 locals qualify for Junior Nationals — Fourteen Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation skiers and four Bend Endurance Academy skiers have qualified for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Cross Country Junior National Championships, which will be held at Solider Hollow, Utah, on March 4-10. Skiers were named to the Pacific Northwest Ski Association based on four qualifying races held over the course of the winter. The qualifiers include MBSEF skiers Sarah Kilroy, Annie McColgan, Fiona and Isabelle Max, Max Nye, Anton Micek, Jeffery Bert, Gemma Munck, Olivia Colton, Will Lange, Hunter Greene, Mario Cacciola, Albert Hesse and Lydia Youkey. BEA’s Trevor Allison, 17; Sam Schoderbek, 17; Aidan Whitelaw, 15, and Jack Conde, 14, have also qualified for nationals.

Pole Pedal Paddle

Mini PPP registration open — The Kids Mini Pole Pedal Paddle will be held at Les Schwab Amphitheater on May 20, and online registration is now available at http://mbsef.org/events/selco-kids-mini-ppp. The event is open to kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, who will compete in teams of six to finish a group challenge, an obstacle course and a sprint. Registration costs $150 per team, and each team must have an adult to act as a coordinator. Participation will be limited to 220 teams.

Softball

BPRD men’s league sign-ups now open — Registration for the Bend Park & Recreation District men’s softball leagues are now available at https://register.bendparksandrec.org/. There will be no organizational meetings this year; all sign ups and fees will be paid online. Registration will continue through April 5 or until the leagues are full, whichever comes first. There will be a doubleheader league that will play two games per week, both on Tuesday nights, for a total of 16 regular-season games, followed by a double-elimination playoff. The fee for that league is $769 per team. The men’s C league will play 12 regular-season games on Thursday nights with a single-elimination playoff. Entry will cost $669. The men’s D league will also play 12 regular-season games and a single-elimination playoff, but will meet on Wednesdays. The fee will also be $669.

Strongman

Oregon Feats of Strength to be held March 17 — Oregon Feats of Strength, a Strongman competition drawing 135 men and women from the Western U.S., will be held at the Crook County Fairgrounds rodeo arena March 17. The competition will include a yoke carry, Viking press, frame deadlift, atlas stones and overhead log carry. Registration for competitors is full, but spectators are admitted for $5. Taekwondo

10 HDMA students compete at Oregon championships — Ten High Desert Martial Arts students finished first or second in at least one category at the 2018 Oregon State Taekwondo Championships, which were held at Madison High School in Portland on Feb. 11. Green belt Zoey Graving finished first in sparing and Noah Mastrullo, also a green belt, took first in sparring and first in forms. Antonio Fernandez, a blue belt, finished second in sparring and first in forms, and his fellow blue belt Jesse Miller finished first in sparring. Gabe Young-Fenstermacher, a red belt, was second in board breaking and third in forms, and Fiona Young-Fenstermacher, also a red belt, was second in sparring and second in forms. Red belt Alex Zuniga took second in sparring. Travis Griffiths, a black belt, was second in sparring and second in team forms, and Amanda Griffiths, also a black belt, finished first in sparring and second in team forst. Black belt Joni Ransom was second in sparring. The top performers at the Oregon championships will move on to the 2018 USA Taekwondo National Championships, which will be held in Salt Lake City July 2-9.
