Oregon State pummels New Mexico — Nick Madrigal was 4-for-4, Steven Kwan drove in three runs, and No. 2 Oregon State drubbed New Mexico 15-3 on Monday in Surprise, Arizona. Jack Anderson was 3-for-4 as part of the Beavers’ 18-hit attack. Jordan Britton, the second of three OSU pitchers, earned the victory with four innings of scoreless relief. Elliot Willy, a redshirt freshman outfielder from Bend, made his debut with Oregon State (4-0) and struck out in his only plate appearance. The Beavers, who beat New Mexico 5-2 in their season opener Friday in Surprise, are off for two days before returning to Surprise Stadium on Thursday to face Nebraska.

Trial against USTA set to begin — More than two years after Eugenie Bouchard fell and hit her head at the U.S. Open, her lawyers will be in federal court Tuesday in Brooklyn for the start of jury selection in her trial against the U.S. Tennis Association. Bouchard sued the USTA in 2015, about six weeks after she withdrew from the singles, doubles and mixed doubles events at the U.S. Open because of a concussion she said she had sustained after slipping in the trainers’ room late on Sept. 4. The 23-year-old Canadian blamed her injury on a cleaning fluid applied to the floor in the dimly lit room.
