Ducks finalize coaching staff — Mario Cristobal plans to continue coaching Oregon’s offensive line, but the program’s first-year head coach is going to have some help from an old friend. Cristobal will complete his staff by hiring Alex Mirabal, who also coached for him at Florida International, to coach centers and offensive guards. The Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch was the first to report Mirabal as Cristobal’s 10th and final hire, which a source confirmed to The (Eugene) Register-Guard. Cody Woodiel, a graduate assistant who spent the past three seasons as the offensive line coach at Itawamba (Miss.) Community College, will coach the Ducks’ offensive tackles. Mirabal spent the past five years at Marshall. The Thundering Herd finished fourth nationally past season in sacks allowed, giving up 11 in 13 games. Cristobal has known Mirabal since their freshman year at Miami’s Christopher Columbus High. Oregon’s full-time staff for the 2018 season includes five holdovers from the brief Willie Taggart era — defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt, offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo, defensive line coach Joe Salave’a, safeties coach Keith Heyward and wide receivers coach Michael Johnson.

NBA to return to Seattle … for preseason game — The Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors have scheduled a preseason game next season in Seattle, according to multiple league sources. The Oct. 6 meeting between Northern California teams will be the first NBA game in the Key Arena since the Sonics moved to Oklahoma City after the 2007-08 season and became the Thunder. Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant made his NBA debut as a member of the Sonics before spending the ensuing eight seasons with the Thunder. The veteran forward signed with the Warriors — who are hosting the game — as a free agent in the 2016 offseason.
