Speed limits on several roads in Bend will fall between 5 and 10 mph this month.
Second Street between Wilson Avenue and the northbound parkway ramp will go to 30 mph from 35 mph. Colorado Avenue between Industrial Way and the parkway ramp and Arizona Avenue from Industrial Way to Colorado Avenue will both drop to 25 mph from the current 35 mph. Reed Market Road between 15th and 27th streets will become 35 mph from 40 mph.
New speed limit signs will be topped by orange warning flags for several weeks.
The city of Bend said it chose to make the changes because of resident requests and a study that looked at driving speeds, development and changing traffic. They’ll take effect when signs are posted.
