• Newport Avenue Market has won small retailer first place awards at the 2018 National Grocers Association Creative Choice Awards for the best “Connections through Print” entry for the “We Know Our S–t” campaign, which highlights the expertise employees bring to the employee-owned grocery store. It also won for the best “Perimeter Departments” entry for “What’s for Dinner Tuesday,” the store’s popular meal kit program that began in May 2017. Newport Avenue Market and its promoter, Every Idea Marketing, have been partners for almost 20 years and topped this year’s record 450 entries.
• Volunteers in Medicine has been awarded $113,359 in grant funding from Meyer Memorial Trust, PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement, The Chambers Family Foundation, The Roundhouse Foundation and The Autzen Foundation. These grants will sponsor the medical care and prescriptions for uninsured, low-income adults for one year, and will support the development of patient education materials and help manage health outcomes for patients with chronic diseases.
• Geno’s Italian Grill, 1857 N. Sixth St., Redmond, filed an application Feb. 14 with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission for a change of location and for a commercial establishment full on-premises sales license, which allows the sale and service of distilled spirits, malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises.
