The Downtown Bend Business Association on Friday announced a new executive director is taking over the organization March 1.

Mindy Aisling will assume the post from Rod Porsche, who leaves the association to become executive director of the Albany Area Habitat for Humanity, Aisling said.

Aisling started with the association as a volunteer in 2015 and became community relations coordinator in 2016. Previously, she said, she ran three small businesses, a cleaning and maintenance company, a maker of saxophone mouthpieces and as a life coach and public speaker. She, her husband, Logan, a school teacher, and their son moved to Bend from Washington, Aisling said.

“The great thing about being an entrepreneur, and the not-so-great thing, is you do it all,” she said.

The association under Aisling plans to increase its sidewalk cleaning program, implement a “Bend Cares” campaign and increase downtown security, according to the news release.

Porsche led the association for three years. He cited the record attendance at Bend Oktoberfest, the association’s largest fundraiser, among his accomplishments.
