September 25, 1929 – February 12, 2018

Lucille Elizabeth Johnson was born on September 25, 1929, and went home to be with her Lord God in Heaven on February 12, 2018. There she was welcomed by many who went before her.

Awaiting her arrival in heaven were her parents, Mahlon A and Mary (Silver) Couch; brothers, Mahlon I, Robert, and Lee Couch; sisters, Helen Ivie and Rosemary Kibbee; her first love and husband, Henry Rainey and her final love, Clare Johnson, husband of 22 years.

She is survived by her sister, Josephine Moore of Bend, OR; and sister-in-law, Gail Couch of Brookings, OR; her special daughters, Laren Dee Barton of Kelso, WA, and Ellen Strom of Hillsboro, OR; plus one other daughter of another mother, Rabbine Harpell of Bend, OR; and grandchildren, Melodee, Cassandra, Gayle, Ted and Greg.

There are too many of us who call her Aunt to list here by name, but know that we all love her and will miss her dearly.

Lucille was a good Christian woman with a strong Christian faith who helped many people in many ways. As a young girl she dreamed of going to a foreign land to minister her faith but her purpose was found to here in this land but still doing the Lords work. To Lucille, family was everything and everyone was in Gods family.

Before the ravages of illness and age took hold, Lucille loved to travel whether it be camping in the outback or attending a Mardi Gras in New Orleans, she enjoyed being with people enjoying life. Lucille saw the beauty in life and in people. She loved to make others smile whether be through the wearing of a sparkling hat or organizing a family reunion (so that it didn’t require a funeral for people to get together)!

Thank you, Twyla and Rozie, for all you’ve done over the years and we’re grateful for Tina who was there for her at the end. So many had such special places in her heart! Words cannot express how much we will miss her but, in her words, “no more sickness, no more pain”, she can once again dance the night away!

We Love You, Aunt Lucille!
