– Stanley ‘Stan’ D. Robson – September 7, 1943 – January 28, 2018 – Stan D. Robson of Sisters, OR, died in his home on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was 74. He was born in Milwaukee, OR, on September 7, 1943, to Robert and Dorothy (Hunt) Robson.He graduated from Milwaukee High School, and joined the US Army spending three years as a military police officer in Germany and a surveyor in Ethiopia. While in the Army, Stan married Marjorie C. Wheaton and moved to Corvallis after being discharged from the Army. He went on to graduate from Oregon State University with a degree in Fish and Wildlife. After graduating from OSU, Stan went to work for the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. During his time in the sheriff’s office, he developed a passion and expertise in working on domestic violence and child abuse cases. He volunteered his time serving on various statewide councils, committees, task forces and organizations specific to domestic violence and child abuse issues. He was also active with the Oregon State Legislature, lobbying for the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association, various state agencies and non-profit organizations. Stan was co-founder and instructor for Universal Tracking Services, providing training and instruction for human tracking for various search and rescue organizations and the military. Stan was voted Sheriff of the Year in 1999 by his peers. He later retired after 30 years in 2001 having served as Sheriff for 5 1/2 years. Stan and his family also ran a sheep farm in the Corvallis area. When not working, he was active with the Livestock Association, the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and 4-H. Following retirement, Stan moved to Sisters, OR, where he enjoyed raising livestock, fishing, camping and volunteering his time serving on the Governor’s Domestic Violence Council, working with Saving Grace (Domestic Violence Center in Bend), the Oregon Lottery and Racing Commissions, co-founding the Sisters Men Against Domestic Abuse group, serving as a Deschutes County Dog Control Supervisor and being active with the Military Parents of Sisters.He is survived by son, Justin E. Robson (Koby) of Southern Pines, NC; daughter, Stacy D. Neil (Nathan) of Bend, OR, two grandsons, Liam and Sam; sister, Kathleen E. Hemann of Salem, OR and his former wife of 50 years, Marjorie Robson of Redmond, OR.A memorial will be held at the Benton County Fairgrounds on March 10, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a small family gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Saving Grace (Bend, OR) or to Benton County 4-H (Corvallis, OR).
