Outlaws named all-league — Senior Ty Horner was one of four Sisters High players chosen to the Sky-Em League boys basketball all-league teams. Also for league-champion Sisters, juniors Jack Berg and Noah Richard were selected to the second team, and junior Zach Anderson received honorable mention. The Sky-Em all-league girls include Outlaws senior Rylee Weber, who received honorable mention. The boys coach of the year is Sisters’ David Godfrey, and Sutherlin’s Mason Gill was voted player of the year. Junction City’s Maddy Mehlbrech was voted player of the year for the girls, and Junction City’s Liz Bolton was named coach of the year.
Culver headlines all-CBC teams — Culver junior Irma Retano has been voted unanimously to the all-Columbia Basin Conference girls basketball first team, headlining four Bulldogs who received postseason recognition. Culver’s Mia Gamboa, a junior, and Elly Bautista, a senior, were selected to the second team, senior Lesi Alvarado received honorable mention, and the Bulldogs’ Scott Fritz was voted coach of the year. Culver players named to the CBC boys all-conference teams were seniors Weston Basl (second team) and Matt Krueger (honorable mention). Weston-McEwen’s Brian Pickard was named the boys coach of the year.
Area players chosen all-MVL — Trinity Lutheran sophomore Matthew Eidler has been chosen to the all-Mountain Valley League boys basketball first team. Saints sophomore Cash Niemeyer was voted to the second team, and sophomore Abe Clift received honorable mention. Also receiving honorable mention from Central Oregon were Central Christian freshman Josh Biever and Gilchrist sophomore Beau Burr.
