Donavon Frankenreiter returns to Bend

The surf-rock singer-songwriter trend spawned many Bend favorites: G. Love, Jack Johnson (both of whom returned to the city last year), Ben Harper. You’d expect surfer-turned-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter to be on this list, too: His laid-back vocal delivery, smooth funk guitar strumming and peace-and-love lyrics certainly put him in the same musical world, and he opened for Johnson and Love at Les Schwab Amphitheater in 2004, back when he was just kicking off his songwriting career. But his performance at the Domino Room on Wednesday will mark his first Bend show since that date, so fans will have some catching up to do. Start with 2015’s “The Heart,” a deeply intimate, personal collection of songs, and then get ready to soft-rock next week.

Donavon Frankenreiter, with John Craigie: 9 p.m. Wednesday, doors open at 8:30 p.m.; $20 plus fees in advance, $25 at the door; ages 21 and older; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; parallel44presents.com or 541-408-4329.
