A Redmond woman was cited on five counts of alleged animal neglect after law enforcement found several dogs uncared for in her home, including one dead dog.

On Sunday, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a welfare check after neighbors reported concern about dogs living on nearby property. The neighbors reported that the dogs hadn’t been cared for or fed for several days. A search was done the following day and five dogs — pit-bull mixes and one Chihuahua mix — were found on the property and taken to Brightside Animal Center in Redmond for care.

An additional pit-bull mix was found dead.

The dogs were not fed, cared for or checked on in six days, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anne Springer, 41, of Redmond admitted to being the owner of the dogs and turned herself into authorities, Sgt. William Bailey of the sheriff’s office said. She was cited on six counts of alleged animal neglect.
