Murder-suicide victim had restraining order — A suburban Portland woman fatally shot in a murder-suicide was granted a restraining order in November against the man who killed her. But records show the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office never delivered it. The sheriff’s office said it couldn’t find David Cote after he moved. Cote and the woman, Bethany Schuch, were found dead Wednesday outside a home in West Linn. The sheriff’s office said Cote shot the victim multiple times before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Schuch said in her petition for the restraining order that Cote was mentally unstable and she feared for her life.

Man sentenced in stabbing death of 78 year old — A judge in Southern Oregon has sentenced a convicted killer to life in prison for the stabbing death of a 78-year-old man. Duane Bond Jr. will have the possibility of parole after 25 years. He got an additional three years Thursday for having weapons in jail. The 33-year-old Bond showed no remorse, saying the victim “got what he had coming.” The victim, Jerald Eigenbrod, was found dead two years ago at his trailer near Grants Pass.

Police wound suspect in Salem — Authorities say a suspect shot by Salem police had backed his pickup into the patrol car of the officer who fired. Lt. Dave Okada says the suspect, 40-year old Zackary Miles Pevey, was taken to a hospital for treatment. The officer, Jesse Rios, was not injured. Okada says the incident began Thursday afternoon when officers tried to stop Pevey regarding a warrant.
