Peter John Pedone Sr. (Palaver Pete)

Peter, age 83, passed away on March 3, 2018, with his wife of 57 years at his side. He was born on December 8, 1934, in San Jose California, the first son of Mary and John Pedone. He grew up in San Jose with an extended Italian family. He joined the Marine Corp. after graduating from high school. After serving his tour, he joined the ROTC at San Jose State College and graduated as a 2nd Lt. of Infantry in the U.S. Army. In Vietnam, he served in the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry “Garry Owen,” as a company commander and staff officer. He later earned a master’s degree in labor relations at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Peter served 26 years in the military and retired as a Lt. Col. in August 1979.

He and Sandy moved to Sunriver in 1990 and enjoyed skiing and tennis. He was a charter member of the Pine Mt. Posse Cowboy Shooting Club, where he was known as Palaver Pete. He enjoyed the competition and friendships in the club.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Peter J. Pedone Jr. (wife, Julie); daughter, Michael Ann Pedone; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
