A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):
Monday
Women’s college basketball, NCAA Tournament selection show, 4 p.m. (ESPN): Pac-12 champion Oregon already knows it will be a host for the first two rounds as part of the Spokane Regional, now the Ducks learn the three teams that will join them later this week in Eugene. Oregon State is a lock to make the 64-team field, and the selection show will reveal where and when the Beavers start dancing.
Monday
Prep baseball, Crook County at Redmond (doubleheader), 2 p.m.; prep softball, Redmond at Crook County (doubleheader), 3:30 p.m.: Included on the schedule for the first official day of the high school spring sports season are these regional rivalry contests on the ball diamonds pitting the Cowboys and Cowgirls against the Panthers. Most other spring sports get underway in the week ahead.
Tuesday/Wednesday
Men’s college basketball, NCAA Tournament First Four at Dayton, Ohio, 3:40 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. both days (truTV; Bend Cable channel 142): The big dance begins with an eight-team sock hop at UD Arena, where Tuesday’s games are LIU-Brooklyn vs. Radford followed by UCLA vs. St. Bonaventure. The Wednesday lineup is North Carolina Central vs. Texas Southern followed by Arizona State vs. Syracuse.
Thursday
NBA basketball, Cleveland at Portland, 7 p.m. (NBCSNW): On a tear for the past month, the Trail Blazers have won nine in a row coming into this week and have gone from playoff hopefuls to a decent bet to host a first-round series in the Western Conference playoffs. After Portland entertains Miami on Monday night, LeBron James and the Cavaliers pay their only visit of the season to the Moda Center.
Saturday
Running, St. Patrick’s Day Dash in Bend, 10:05 a.m.: The seventh annual Dash is a benefit for Mt. Bachelor Rotary programs staged on a 5K course through the Old Mill District and along the Deschutes River. The race is billed as a family-friendly fun run, and prizes will be awarded for best St. Patrick’s Day-themed costumes. For more information or to register, go to bendstpatsdash.com.
