Local authorities last month arrested a former Redmond resident in Portland in connection with a raft of sex abuse charges following an investigation by child welfare officials, according to recently unsealed court documents.
Stanley Keith McGuyer, 39, was taken into custody Feb. 6 at his workplace in Portland and transported to Deschutes County jail, where he is being held without bail.
He’s facing 40 criminal charges, including 39 sex-related felonies. The allegations include first-degree sex abuse, first-degree unlawful penetration, first-degree sodomy, using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, luring a minor and incest.
The investigation began when a family member reported numerous instances of alleged abuse from between four and five years ago, when McGuyer and his family lived in Redmond.
The interagency Multnomah County Child Abuse Team reported the alleged abuse to the Redmond Police Department, which dispatched two investigators to the Portland area.
The officers were present for a phone call in which McGuyer allegedly admitted to some of the charges. He was detained at his workplace and taken to an interview room in a Portland Police Bureau substation and subsequently driven to Bend.
His next court hearing is set for April 3 in Deschutes County Circuit Court.
“It’s an active case, and we’re right in the middle of it,” said police Sgt. Aaron Wells, the arresting officer.
On Feb. 28, Wells filed a petition in Deschutes County Circuit Court for a warrant to search McGuyer’s iPhone 7 for evidence related to the case. That document was released by the court late last week.
McGuyer was convicted of first-degree criminal mistreatment and third-degree assault in 2003 in Coos County.
