There will be a life celebration at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 14 for Bend resident Scott Mendenhall, 43, who died on March 10, 2018.
Scott was a devoted husband and father, wonderful friend, successful businessman, avid golfer, and die-hard Duke basketball fan.
Scott Paul Mendenhall was born in Hong Kong on July 24, 1975, and moved to Sunriver, Oregon, at the age of 4, along with his parents and sister. A graduate of Sunriver Preparatory School, which his parents helped found, Scott excelled in and out of the classroom. He played on the varsity soccer, golf and tennis teams and was co-valedictorian of his graduating class. In 1993, he won the 3A/4A Oregon State High School Tennis Singles Championships.
After high school, Scott attended Duke University where he earned a BA in Economics and German, graduating magna cum laude. Scott was also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.
After graduating from Duke University, Scott moved to San Francisco, where he was involved with various early and late stage technology companies for seven years.
It was in San Francisco that Scott met and married the love of his life, Tiffany Hughes. Shortly thereafter, he and Tiffany moved to Hong Kong to join Scott’s family import business, ETAK International Limited, where as CEO, Scott led the company to ever-increasing success. Scott’s impressive business acumen was exceeded only by his love for, and dedication to, his employees.
Three children and ten years later, Scott and his family moved back to Bend to be close to family. While he continued to commute to Asia for work, he loved nothing more than taking his kids to school, teaching them to ski, and cheering on their performances and sports teams. Scott also served as Trustee for Cascades Acadamy.
Scott’s huge heart, incredible generosity, and loving embrace will be sorely missed by his surviving family members: wife, Tiffany; and children, Ellie, Quinn and Chloe of Bend; sister, Tina Kushner, and brother-in-law, Dan, of Honolulu; niece, Sarah and nephew, Jack, of Honolulu; and mother, Kate, of Sunriver.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cascades Academy.
