Hugh was born and raised in Prineville, to Thomas L. and Frieda E. (Stumpe) Quinn.
He graduated from Crook County High School as student body president, “Class of 1949”. Hugh attended the University of Portland prior to entering the Navy and was posted to the USS Valley Forge during the Korean War conflict. Upon completion of his service in 1954, he brought his growing family to Bend where they raised their eight children.
Hugh and Pat opened their home to many others through the years. It was always “open house” at the Quinn’s. Hugh worked at the Westside Hardware, Brooks Scanlon, JL Ward and retired from the Bend School District. He was active in scouting with his children and in the Youth Search Program as a well as many other organizations at St. Francis Parish.
Predeceased by his parents, brothers, Patrick, Jay and Phillip, sisters, Mary Jane and Elaine, one daughter, Jeri Ann, and one great-grandson, Eli. He leaves his wife, Patricia, children, Michael (Beth), Mary (Al), Gina (Steve), Katherine (Thompson), Thomas, Maureen (Whit), and Patrick, 28 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
When you met Hugh, you became a friend and he treated friends as family, so he also leaves a lot of extended family.
Burial Mass will be at the Old St. Francis Church Downtown on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 am. Contributions may be made to St. Francis Church or a charity of your choice.
