Police: Mexican national found with 36 pounds of meth

A Mexican national was arrested by Oregon State Police on Monday on suspicion of having 36 pounds of methamphetamine.
Police say Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos, 28, was driving a stolen 2018 Nissan Versa out of Sonora, Mexico. Burgos was pulled over for speeding near Milepost 18 on U.S. Highway 20 east of Bend.
A state police dog alerted officers to the possibility of drugs and a search of the vehicle yielded the commercial quantity of illegal narcotics, according to Lt. Cari Boyd, a state police spokesperson.
Burgos, of Sonora, Mexico, was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth, delivery of meth and manufacture of meth and taken to Deschutes County jail, Boyd said. Friday, he was not listed online as a jail inmate.
