Looking ahead to Central Oregon community sports

Six weeks: The Sisters Better Half Marathon, which will be held at Village Green Park in Sisters on April 28. Participants can enter the half marathon, a quarter marathon (6.55 miles) or a half marathon relay in which both partners run 6.55 miles. Proceeds benefit the Sisters High School swim team. Entry costs $40 for the quarter marathon, $55 for the half and $65 for the relay, and the price will increase on April 27. To learn more, visit www.sistershalfmarathon.com.

Two months: The Pole Pedal Paddle, the iconic, six-leg multisport race from Mount Bachelor to Bend’s Old Mill District, will be held May 19. Cost varies by division entered, but if you sign up now registration will cost between $40 per person and $190 for a family team. The price increases April 12. To learn more, visit www.pppbend.com.

Three months: The Bite of Bend Beer Run, a 5K run held at Drake Park in Bend on June 17. Yes, there will be beer. Registration is now available at http://biteofbend.com/beer-run/ for $20. The entry price will increase to $30 on race day.

Four months: High Cascades 100, a 100-mile mountain bike race that will start at the Athletic Club of Bend on July 21. The course circles around Mount Bachelor and several of the Cascade lakes before returning to Bend. Entry costs $260. More details and online registration are available at www.highcascades100.com.

Five months: The Monkey Face Half Marathon, a half marathon, half-marathon relay, 7-mile run and 4-mile race-walk that will be held at Smith Rock State Park on Aug. 18. Registration is now open at www.pinkbuffaloracing.com/mfhm.html. Registration costs $20 to $55, depending on the race entered and the age of the runner.
