A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):
Tuesday
NBA basketball, Houston at Portland, 7:30 p.m. (TNT): The torrid Trail Blazers have won 13 straight and are at home to face the Rockets, who lead the Western Conference with the NBA’s best record and have been on a tear themselves, winning 26 of their past 28 games. Portland hosts Eastern Conference heavyweight Boston on Friday, then plays seven of its last 10 games of the regular season on the road.
Friday
Women’s college basketball, NCAA Tournament, Oregon State vs. Baylor at Lexington, Ky., 4 or 6:30 p.m. (TV TBA): The Beavers are proving their No. 6 seed a miscalculation and ride a historic win over Tennessee into the Sweet 16. No team had ever beaten the Lady Vols on their home court in the NCAA tourney — until OSU did it Sunday. Now the Beavs turn their attention to No. 2 Baylor, an 80-58 winner over No. 7 Michigan in the second round.
Saturday
Women’s college basketball, NCAA Tournament, Oregon vs. TBD at Spokane, Wash., 1 or 3:30 p.m. (TV TBA): The No. 2-seeded Ducks mauled Seattle and Minnesota in Eugene and now advance to the Spokane Regional, where they will play a Sweet 16 game against either No. 3 Ohio State or No. 11 Central Michigan (those two teams play Monday in a second-round game). Oregon is two wins away from a return to the Final Four.
Sunday
Nordic skiing/cycling, Great Nordeen XC Ski and Fat Bike Race at Mt. Bachelor: Postponed in late January for lack of snow, the 16th annual Great Nordeen has been rescheduled and welcomes skiers for point-to-point freestyle races of 30K and 18K distances starting at West Village Lodge at 7:30 a.m. The 15K bike race starts at Sunrise Lodge at 9 a.m. To register or for more information go to mbsef.or/nordic/races.
Sunday
Adventure racing, Sunriver March Mudness, 1 p.m.: As its name suggests, this event is all about getting muddy. A competitive timed wave will take off on the 1.5-mile obstacle course at the top of the hour, and noncompetitive waves will start in five-minute intervals beginning at 1:15 p.m. All ages are welcome; kids 8 and younger must be accompanied by a partner 12 or older.
