- A pedestrian walks along the side of the road on a section of South Canal Boulevard.
Redmond residents are invited to a public open house that will focus on improvements to South Canal Boulevard, including construction updates.
The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Redmond City Hall, 411 SW Ninth St. Project officials will be on hand to discuss street improvement plans and proposed construction and closure timelines.
South Canal Boulevard will be upgraded from SW Obsidian Avenue to the roundabout at Yew Avenue. Improvements will include new pavement, curbs, left turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, storm-water collection and a shared pathway for pedestrians and bicycles along the irrigation canal from Salmon Street to Highland Avenue. Landscaping features will include street trees.
The project will close the streets to through traffic in phased sections but local traffic will be allowed. Detours will be set up when roads are closed.
The first section of work will occur between Yew Avenue and Timber Avenue and is scheduled to begin Monday. There will be a detour to SW 27th Street.
Construction is slated to be completed by April 2019.
A project website and phone contact will be launched at the open house.
