Three people were killed Sunday night when the car they were riding in collided south of Prineville with a Les Schwab Tires tractor trailer traveling the opposite direction.

On Monday, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the dead — MaryBeth Gonsalves, 25, Joshua Steven Saddler, 29, and his son, Gaberiel, 2.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, Joshua Saddler was driving north on SE George Millican Road near milepost 17 when he lost control at a curve and skidded sideways and into an oncoming Les Schwab semi truck.

The driver of the truck was not injured. His identity was not released by the sheriff’s office and calls left Monday with Sheriff John Gautney were not returned.

The truck came to rest with Saddler’s car trapped underneath it. Heavy equipment was needed to lift it off, according to a news release by the sheriff’s office.

Gaberiel Saddler was found in the back seat in a child safety seat.

The road at the time was wet from rain, which is considered to be a factor in the crash, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies and troopers with Oregon State Police responded, along with Crook County Fire & Rescue.

Millican Road south of Reservoir Road was closed for several hours for an investigation. The road is a 19-mile link between U.S. Highway 20 and state Highway 126 west of Prineville that is heavily used by Les Schwab trucks to transport goods from the company’s distribution center, which is located on Millican Road in Prineville.
