SISTERS — Kanim Smith and Tyler Lockey combined for 12 strikeouts Tuesday, and Smith’s RBI in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Madras squeaked past Sisters for a 5-4 nonconference baseball win.

After Brandon Desjardins led off the sixth inning with a single and stole second base, Smith delivered a run-scoring hit as Madras, which led 4-1 after three innings, broke a 4-4 tie. Coming on in relief of Smith, Lockey pitched the final 31⁄3 innings and held the Outlaws (1-2 overall) without a hit over the final two frames to keep the White Buffaloes (2-0) unbeaten.

Lockey hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning to give the Buffs a 2-0 lead. Lewis Fine added a two-run blast in the third to push the visitors’ lead to 4-1.

Austin Lake helped Sisters climb back, however, with a two-run home run in the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 4-3, and Sisters scored another run in the fifth to even the score.

Smith, Fine and Desjardins each finished with two hits for Madras. Lake also doubled for Sisters, and Garrett Vohs and Austin Morss each had a hit.
