Taylor Eigsti plays Riverhouse Jazz

Don’t mourn the loss of Riverhouse Jazz just yet. There are still two more acts to go in the series’ now-final season, starting with Friday and Saturday’s shows featuring New York City pianist Taylor Eigsti. Inspired by his sister Shannon, who died of cancer when he was 3, Eigsti started playing at age 4. By 12, he had shared stages with David Benoit and Dave Brubeck and performed for former President Bill Clinton, and by 15 he was on the faculty at Stanford University. Now 33, Eigsti has released seven albums as a bandleader and has been nominated for two Grammys and has worked with Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, Esperanza Spalding, Chris Botti, Sting and Christian McBride, among others. His quartet features fellow child prodigy Julian Lage on guitar, drummer Eric Harland and bassist Harish Raghavan. Portland-based Innovation Project (featuring Laz Glickman, son of Riverhouse Jazz founder Marshall Glickman) opens the shows.

Taylor Eigsti Quartet, with Innovation Project: 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, doors open at 6 p.m.; $63.50 plus fees; Riverhouse Jazz at Riverhouse on the Deschutes, 3075 N. U.S. Highway 97, Bend; riverhouse.com/jazz or 866-453-4480.
