REDMOND — A break in the snowfall Friday allowed Ridgeview enough time to capture its second straight boys lacrosse win.
The Ravens clung to a one-goal lead over Forest Grove late in the fourth quarter, but their defense, led by goalie Elliott Smith, held off the visiting Vikings to secure a 9-8 victory.
“He just crushed it today,” Ridgeview coach Steve Ashley said of Smith, who finished with 18 saves. “He was not giving up anything.”
Jake Matheson led the Ravens (2-1 overall) with three goals and an assist. Ridgeview’s Dalen Buckley-Noonan added three scores, while Mike Ashley contributed one goal and one assist. Cooper Majetich and Anthony Parry each scored once for the Ravens, who open High Desert Conference play April 3 against Bend High at Bend’s 15th Street Field.
