Teen feats

• Carter Robeson, Ashley Jackson, Carmen Hansen, Collier Massey of Bend High School have won first place in the management competition of the Education Foundation of the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association’s ProStart Invitational in Salem. They will compete in the 2018 National ProStart Invitational next month in Providence, Rhode Island.

• Gabe Reed, a senior at Summit High School, went undefeated in Lincoln Douglas Debate at the National Speech and Debate Association South Oregon Qualifier tournament at the University of Oregon, winning a spot with Team South Oregon at the June 17-22 national tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is the son of Bill and Lura Reed, of Bend.

High school notes

• Connor Lowery-North, a freshman at Mountain View High School has been nominated for the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders to be held in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 29-July 1. He was nominated by Dr. John C. Mather, winner of the Nobel Prize in physics and science director of the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists, to represent Mountain View High School.

• Jonathan Skidmore, a freshman at Summit High School, won three of the four categories he competed in at the 2018 American Legion Oratorical Contest at the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs in Salem. The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the Constitution among high school students. He is the son of Jon and Caroline Skidmore, of Bend.
